As a longtime Fire Emblem fan, I have been shaking in anticipation for the newest entry for years. And just a few days after release, I finally got my hands on Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. My current play time is just about 6 hours so far but here are my opening feelings about FE:FW. This game feels snappy as hell, all the cursor movement (which can be used with the Switch 2’s mouse functionality also) has satisfying little rumbles and clicks that sync game sound with controller vibration. It loads quickly and just overall the game is fast, much faster than Three Houses or Engage. Also I am absolutely loving the slight sci-fi element this game has going on. With several routes to start on, the first route I chose to follow was with Leda, the Dancer whose heart is set on revenge. Although the main cast seems smaller than Three Houses it feels like each character really shines through so far and the game gives each of them time to really flesh out what they are doing on this quest and in their lives. It seems like there are a TON of side characters to recruit though. Not quite sure yet how I feel about the dungeon exploring segments as it feels fun but a bit mindless which in a strategy RPG like Fire Emblem comes off as a bit distracted. I’ve only just begun interacting with the more open free time elements but they seem robust on the surface. Ah, I’m literally itching to get back to this game! So far my interest remains peaked and my (admittedly high) expectations have so-far been met. See you all later, I have to get back to Dagsion!
